The 12-member board, along with Ditlev Vestas’ president and CEO, flew to Colorado on Sunda y and hada one-hour meeting with Gov. Board members also were also spendint timein Brighton, where Vestas is planniny a second blade plant and a nacelle s assembly plant, and in Pueblo, where Vestaws is building the world’s biggest plant for makingf the steel towers that hold the wind turbinezs aloft. “We’re spending more than $1 billion in the United State s and making a good commitment tothe market, so they wanter to see it first hand,” Roberts said.
• The Windsof plant north of Denver, whicbh when running at full capacity is expected to emplog about 600 employees and produce as manyas 2,000 wind bladex per year. The plant opened in March 2008. The Brighton blade factory and nacelle assembly plants valued at acombined $290 which was announced in August 2008. The plants are expectecd to be fully operationalin 2010. The blades factory will employ about 650 people and the nacelle plan will have about700 employees, Vestass has said. • The $250 million Pueblo wind tower plant, expectedf to open later this It will make 900 steel towers annually and employ 450 to550 workers.
The groupl planned to leave Colorado Monday eveningfor Portland, where the Vestasz Americas division is based, to see the company’ marketing, sales and service operations, then tour a wind farm in Washingtobn state, Roberts said.
