Tufts expects the project will create 56 construction jobs forthe two-year periocd when the facility is being built, and that the lab will creatw over 20 permanent jobs for technicians, facilities and security personnel. The lab will include extensived spacefor animals, which are expected to be mostlt insects, rodents and some piglets. Tufts official s say they hope the lab will serve as an anchord forthe already-built Grafton Sciencw Park, attracting other life science companiex who want to be near the facility. To the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center taskerd with administeringthe $1 billionm Life Sciences bill has authorizex $24 million in capital project funding.
