Ford will stop Claycomo F-150 production for a week - Nashville Business Journal:

The UAW Local 249 posted the information in a newsletter on itsWeb site. Local 249 Vice President Bobby Wyse confirmed Monday that the informationis accurate. The productiohn stoppage comes a week before an alreadgyscheduled one-week summer break for the entiree plant starting June 29, a Local 249 spokeswoman said. The plant also is scheduledf for a summer break during the weekof Aug. 17. Sale s of Ford F-series trucks were 33,381 in May, up 16 percenyt from 28,757 in April but down 22.3 percent from 42,97e3 in May 2008.
UAW Local 249 said the slight increasrin month-to-month sales enabled Ford (NYSE: F) to cancel the schedule d down week on June 22 at its F-1590 truck plant in Dearborn, but the down week was left intact at the Kansas City Assembly Plant. “Thisd is partially due to depleted fundas forthe state’s Division of Unemploymentt in Michigan, making down weeks at (Dearborn) less of an the Local 249 said in the newsletter. Loca 249 added that sales projections continude to be less than the five shiftse at the two truck plants can producd if they work full time through the 2010 production year. Ford runs two shifts at Claycomo and threin Dearborn.
Wyse said Ford is considerintg once again moving a shift fromthe F-15 0 side of the Kansas City Assembly Plant and putting them to work on the SUV However, nothing has been determined so far, he A year ago, Ford moved about 800 workers from a second shift on the F-150 side of the Kansazs City plant to a third shift on the SUV The employees were moved back to the F-1590 side on Jan. 12. Ford Escaper sales in May reached 16,391, up 20.6 percent from 13,5966 in April but down 7.2 percent from 17,66 7 in May 2008. The Kansass City Assembly Plant also produces the Mercury Marinefr and hybrid versions of the Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner.
Combined sales of hybrid versionds of theFord Fusion, Mercury Milan, Ford Escape and Mercuryt Mariner reached 3,906 in May, a new companty record. The old sales record of 3,420 hybridc vehicles was set inApripl 2006. As of May, Ford’s Kansas City Assemblgy Plant in Claycomo hadabout 3,900 hourlt and 200 salaried employees.
